"A&E plus Ward Staff"

I wrote to the NHS with the following concerns: 1. On several visits to the Dianna Princess of Wales Hospital, I have noticed Surgical Staff wearing so called "sterile" gowns, boots & hair nets walking through corridors, in the canteen & outside. These surgical operating Staff have to enter clinically sterile operating theatres. Goodness knows what bugs & diseases they are taking in with them. 2. When I was in a Ward at this Hospital, the Gentleman in the next bed was very frail. The Nursing Staff would bring a meal or liquids & place it on a "bed table" about half way down the bed, but he was too frail to sit up from the horizontal position. The Nursing Staff would then come back sometime later & take the uneaten meal away. I explained to the Nurse that he was too weak to get up & I was completely ignored! There were plenty of Nursing Staff around. When I was able to get up to go to the toilet, they would be all around the Nurses Station talking about their exotic Holidays. I can now see why so many patients die of dehydration. 3. My Wife (72) was in agony with severe pain in her back, buttock & the back of her leg & was rushed into A&E where they administered three diamorphine injections & X-rayed her pelvis & thigh area, but could not find out what was causing the pain. After several Hours they decided to discharge her even though she was still in incredible pain. She said that she would have to try & walk the 6 miles home, as there was no way that she could sit down & get into the car. One of the A&E Nurses was extremely aggressive & tried to physically pull my Wife off the trolley, even though she was crying out in pain. To free up the A&E bed, they very begrudgingly sent her to a mixed sex Ward. On arrival, one of the Ward Nurses said very aggressively, "Don't get comfortable as you won't be staying here for long"! For approximately 10 Hours that we were at the Hospital, my Wife was not offered any fluids. I had to go to the shop to purchase bottled water for her to drink The whole attitude towards my Wife was very negative & aggressive - Not what you would expect from "the caring profession". My Wife left the Hospital with the same amount of pain that she had entered it 10 Hours earlier. On the two occasions that we have used an ambulance, the Staff have been wonderful. It is not all bad, I think the Staff in the Ophthalmic Clinic are fantastic.
