"North Manchester - A dreadful dreadful hospital"

About: North Manchester General Hospital

Anything else?

It took me about 4 years to finish the 2 examinations I needed. At every stage I was forgotten. I've been forgotten more times than I have fingers. So I have had the same examination more than once. I have been to the pre-op clinic 3 times. My first visit to theatre was cancelled. There is no continuity of care. The staff encourage patients to complain time and time again. That is a worrying aspect. The staff do not feel they are listened to - I guess. Doctors are sometimes arrogant, rude and obtuse. When I told one doctor that it was not possible to do a certain procedure and I wanted to discuss in detail what was needed, he told me he was working for my good and he had other patients to see. Some nurses note I'm in my sixties and feel free to call me sweetie. When I tell them not to, they become patronising One nurse could not speak English. 2 told me contradictory things regarding my medication, which is keeping me alive. Every time I visit the hospital I'm asked do I want a copy of the letter which is sent to my doctor. I always say yes. I have received none. Whilst I have been waiting for treatment, I had to have an emergency operation in Greece. Whilst my daughter was being married, I was in a Greek public hospital. The Greeks, having saved my life, told me I needed hospitalization and urgent treatment or my problem would reappear. Was I offered that?. No! Did the infected reappear? Yes!! Has the hospital solved the recurring infection problem? No! The Greek doctors feel my condition is urgent and have offered to treat me as an emergency case. I don't wish to paint everyone with the same brush. Some provide very good treatment. Most are prevented or discouraged from treating patients well. I literally hate the hospital.
