"What a hospital should be like!"

About: Euxton Hall Hospital

Anything else?

From the first minute I entered the hospital I was treated with respect and helped in every possible way. I have a gluten free diet and the chef came to see me regarding my requirements, between us we worked out my food for the duration of my stay. I was prepared for my surgery (knee replacement) by nursing staff who realised that I was terrified and helped me toremain calm, the anaesthetist vitsited me and explained what was going to happen and how, and also why they use the anasthetics they do. We agreed that although I need not be unconscious for the operation it would be better for me if I knew nothing about what was happening. Later I was escorted to theatre by the same nurse who had prepared me for surgery and we chatted on the way though it was only a few yards walk. Having care from the same team throughout my stay was very helpful and I knew that there would be no mistakes regarding medication because for however short my stay the staff knew me and my needs. Later, the same nurse took care of my needs and ensured my comfort as far as possible. Night staff were just as caring as the day staff and again I had the exoerience of the same nurses all through my stay. The hospital is clean and welcoming, not least due to the cleaning staff who work quickly and quietly but do a thorough job and are pleasant and helpful. I cannot praise this tiny gem of a hospital too much, i am now at home and will be making my second visit to physio in a couple of days. I assume all went well with my operation as I can bend the knee and almost straighten it, better action than my old one. The period after this operation is painful but supportive staff and a pleasant experience it make it more bearable.
