I broke my left wrist in June and was taken to A&E at my local hospital, Calderdale Royal Infirmary, by my husband.
I was very pleased with the treatment I received in the A&E department.
I arrived at the hospital at approximately 3pm and was home again by 5:30pm. I was triaged fairly quickly and received painkillers. The nurse who triaged me was pleasant. I didn't feel rushed and she assessed me thoroughly.
I then saw a nurse and healthcare assistant who were also pleasant. I don't remember them introducing themselves but I asked their names and they were very friendly. I felt safe and like my care would be good. They apologised for the minor waits I had between the various stages of treatment I had, eg x-rays, reassessment etc.
They made sure I received adequate pain relief when my wrist was being manipulated and set straight by a doctor. The entonox I had made me feel a bit spacey and giggly but I felt safe with them all. They were very kind and I'd like to say an official 'thank you'.
Overall, I had a good experience of the hospital at a time when I was in a lot of pain and felt vulnerable.
"Thank you for treatment of my fractured wrist"
