"I was very nervous about going but had no cause to worry"

About: Locala Community Partnerships CIC / Continence advisory service

(as the patient),

I went to my doctor because I was having to go to the loo several times during the night. He sent me to the Locala clinic in Cleckheaton. I was very nervous about going. I had no cause for worry at all.

Even though I was examined, I was made to feel very relaxed and comfortable. The people I saw were really very nice people. Once I had been, I had no cause whatsoever to worry about going again. After all they were there to help me.

So, I say to people who are nervous about going - pluck up the courage and go. I am 62 years old and was treated very well by everyone I saw. If I'd have known I would have gone much earlier, they are there to help you.

Pluck up the courage and go, you won't be embarrassed or upset in any way at all. Afterwards you will feel much better. It makes a big difference for the better of health.

Thankyou for your comments and for highlighting the main reason people put up with bladder problems for years. It's understandable to feel nervous and embarrased about discussing problems that are of a personal neature.

I am delighted that you found the continence service staff helpful. One of our main aims is to make sure when people are seen in clinic they feel comfortable and relaxed. It means you are more able to take on board the advice and changes in lifestyle that will help your symptoms.

I hope you continue to improve.
