"Deaths"

Anything else?

Both my parents died in this hospital, my mothers care in particular was appalling! After she had died, I wanted to have time just to sit with her quietly and take in the whole situation, Unfortunately this was not to be, the nurse can rushing in, removed the oxygen tubes in a very rough, noisy manner, flinging them into the bin, when I asked if I could be left alone with her, I was told no " we have to remove 'the body' " , this so called professional, kept referring to my mother as 'the body' I got so upset over this, I told her that this lady was not a body but a mother, and not some corpse which had just been found in the street ! She then told us to wait in the relatives room cos she had things to do, when we returned she had laid my mother flat with her mouth wide open- this was very distressing not only for me but also for my 13 year old daughter! My sister works as a nurse in Australia and there they are told that one should never ever leave a deceased person with their mouth wide open, even if the jaw has dropped, then they are told to always use something like a towel to keep it closed as its distressing for relatives to see! My mother had a very peaceful and pain free death and I'd been called in time to be with her at the end, but my whole memory of what could be described as a 'good death' has been marred by the behaviour of this nasty, uncaring nurse!
