"Any other urgent care / A&E"

About: Whipps Cross University Hospital

Anything else?

I spoke to my GP and NHS Direct and they both advised me to go to A&E. I told the nurse at reception the full history, including that NHS Direct referred me to A&E, and then they made me wait 5 hours to see a GP in Urgent Care who just told me I needed to be referred to A&E. Once I was moved to A&E they put me in a room that smelled of old urine, and made me wait for a half hour for a nurse, who came to take my blood and said it would take another hour at least to see a doctor - when the first doctor I saw said it would take a simple blood test to tell whether I had a clot or not. I ended up walking out - the stress of the visit caused the pain to be unbearable and I couldn't spend any more time waiting in a room stinking of urine or sitting in a hard plastic chair in the waiting room - where other patrons had no regard for anyone else, people were watching videos/playing video games with full volume
