"I was admitted on 13th December ..."

About: The Princess Royal Hospital (Telford)

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was admitted on 13th December 2007 with bacterial meningitis and was in hospital for 16 days. The care was very good and all the staff on the ward could not have been better - very caring and sympathetic. I could find no fault with the choice of food offered (including Christmas Dinner). I can only praise the whole team for the medical treatment I received.

What could be improved

Single sex wards would be nice. I did not like being in a mixed ward very much and sharing the showers/toilets.

Thank you for providing comments about our services. We aim to provide high quality services for all of our patients and are pleased to hear that your experiences mainly matched up to our expectations.

As regards single sex wards, we do aim to provide single sex bays in both of our hospitals wherever possible, and we welcome any comments on how we can continue to improve privacy and dignity between these single sex areas. However, it is not always possible to provide single sex bays in some clinical areas due to the specialist nature of care needed by patients. Some of our hospital buildings are now several decades old and in need of refurbishment, which is why we are working in partnership with other local NHS organisations to develop a vision for local health services that are fit for the future. This will include finding ways to improve the patient environment. More information about this work is available from www.ournhsinshropshireandtelford.nhs.uk, and we welcome any comments or suggestions.

In order to protect your privacy, the NHS Choices website does not share your contact information with us.
