I was taken by ambulance from home with chest pain assessed by junior doctor after four hours, two blood samples taken, results of both not informed to me. I eventually had to virtually discharge myself as it was 3am in the morning . I had spent 7 hours in A&E and got a taxi home to get some sleep. If I suffer with my heart condition again I will not call 999. Very unhappy with the treatment given by the staff the ambulance crew were great.

We apologise for your experience within A&E. We take feedback very seriously and the matron for the area would like to encourage you to contact her to provide relevant details regarding your attendance so we can investigate and respond fully. Our normal practice when patients present with chest pain is an initial assessment with an ECG (heart recording) and then blood tests as required for diagnostics. The findings and results should have been discussed with you so that follow-up could have been arranged, if necessary. We sincerely apologise that this was not done on this occasion but would be happy to discuss further with you.
