"Road traffic accident Nov 6th 2012"

About: University Hospital (Coventry)

Anything else?

I broke my neck, hip, ribs, pelvis, punctured my bowel, lacerated my lungs and split my kidney. The nurses and carers were fantastic. I was in for six weeks couldn't walk and they never moaned about anything I needed as I was in traction. I wish to make a point please remember these people are there to care for you not to cater to your every wish. The staff could do with a bit more help and support because they really are overworked. I was well looked after. I have now been referred to a consultant as I need a new hip, saw consultant 7th May. Dr said if no appointment comes in 4 weeks ring us no appointment turned up. So phone my original consultants secretary she comes back to me to say it's been referred and has gone to appointments it's now 5th July 2013. I know they take time but every 2 weeks I call to be told its in hand. What they don't realise is I'm 34 with a special needs kid. I can't take care of him properly because I'm in a lot of pain and struggle to walk sometimes I can hardly move if the pains particularly bad that day. I just want to get on the waiting list I don't care how long it is I just need to get on it. I have had my moan but I just want to say a big thank you to everyone on ITU trauma wards and orthopaedic who saved my life and made it so my kids still have a mummy the care and empathy was unreal and I appreciate the care I received. Thank you so very much
