"obvious malfunctions"

About: Russells Hall Hospital

Anything else?

this is not so much a complaint as an observation, having worked in an A & E deparment these points were clear to me. During our wait in the department there was a cleaning sign in the main doorway saying wet floor noone moved it in the hours we waited (I dont care) it was clear that there was a system of sorting clients i dont know how it worked, There is no information for waiting patients, there could have been a nurse assesing patients and monitoring the waiting patients. Some people were there when we got there and were still there when we left. not assed and not seen. the whole atmosphere of the place is nobody is caring. There obviously distressed and axious people as one would expect But there was very little care.

Thank you Judith for taking the time to let us know about your experience of our Accident and Emergency Department. We welcome all feedback and would like to assure you that all comments are taken seriously and acted upon as part of our ongoing commitment to improving patient experience. It is disappointing to hear that you felt the atmosphere in the Accident and Emergency Department was uncaring – our A&E staff are hard working and dedicated, and always strive to offer the best possible care to patients. Patients arriving in A&E are triaged and priority is given based on the nature and severity of their illness or injury. This means that most patients will have to wait before they are seen in order for us to be able to offer immediate care to those patients who need it most. We acknowledge that it would be useful for patients to be informed of this information, and are currently in the process of producing posters and leaflets which will be available in the waiting area to explain this system to patients. We will pass your comments on to the A&E team who I’m sure will be grateful for your suggestions.
