"3rd C-Section; 1st at Royal Free... Wish all had..."

About: Royal Free Hospital

Anything else?

I had a 3rd c-section at the Royal Free back in March. This one was elective and I opted for the Royal Free as opposed to my local hospital in Enfield where I'd had the previous two c-sections. The experience was completely different from the previous two all for the good. The staff at all levels from midwives, nurses to porters to the consultant who carried out my c-section were brilliant. The medical team during my c-section were outstanding - I felt completely at ease and they kept me informed at all times. The midwives were clearly overworked and the amounts of paperwork they had to produce were ludicrous. But they were attentive and caring and clearly loved the non-paperwork aspects of their jobs in what was clearly an incredibly busy maternity unit with an enormous spectrum of different languages, cultures and nationalities. My antenatal care at the hospital was also impeccable. I regularly saw the same midwife and was given more than enough information and options about my care. I even saw the same midwife on the day of my c-section before and after the birth. I'd like to thank all the teams there for making my third and final birthing experience very special. I'd whole heartedly recommend the Royal Free for maternity care.
