"Iritis and splendid NHS team work "

Run down at the end of a taxing winter, I developed what I thought was conjunctivitis.

I went to my GP practice (Wish Road, Hove BN3) and was seen by Dr Crosby and I believe Dr Evans. They vigilantly spotted iritis, a nasty sight affecting eye inflammation. Dr Crosby immediately referred me as an emergency the same day to a hectic and rather over-stretched Brighton Eye Hospital's Outpatients/A&E.

Despite the busy schedule I was seen and treated effectively with an intra-eyeball injection within a couple of hours by the excellent Dr. Tam, and his team who managed to keep a caring attitude for all, despite some very dumb and thoughtless comments in the waiting room by some of the patients.

Six weeks of eye drops and rest followed. I believe I have this NHS team work to thank for saving the sight of my left eye. I owe you all guys - thanks ever so!

Ironically I had actually played violin for a dance in the very same Outpatients building for I think an inaugural social event some years before. What goes around comes around...
