"Gartnavel General Hospital Ward 8A"

About: Drumchapel Hospital / Elderly Care Western Infirmary/Gartnavel General / Geriatric Assessment Western Infirmary/Gartnavel General / Respiratory Medicine

(as a carer),

My mum, who has advanced dementia, was admitted here from A&E at the Western, having developed double pneumonia as a result of aspirating her food.

The first two weeks or so were spent in a single room, after which she was moved to a four-bedded room for about another four weeks. I cannot commend the staff highly enough in this facility.

Every single member of the team I came across treated us with kindness, compassion, efficiency and respect. As a result of the high standard of care, my mum recovered from the pneumonia, despite having been told by the consultants that we should 'prepare for the worst'.

She was discharged to Drumchapel Hospital, where she spent two weeks, after which she was again moved to St Margaret's Hospice in Clydebank, where she is currently.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to provide your very kind feedback.

I will pass this comment on to those involved in managing these services and I am sure that they will be very pleased to read your remarks.

Once again thank you for using the Patient Opinion feedback system, it is greatly appreciated.

I hope your mum continues to recover from her recent ill health.

Paul
