I feel completely let down.
in short - over a period of time I began to feel the need to urinate frequently, getting worse and worse, up to 6-10 times an hour and up in the night several times. at first I thought it might be cystitis. several cystitis packs later I visited the doctor, I visited the doctor about 4 times between over 3 months (I have only visited the doctor about twice in a year for chest and throat infection) and I was having terrible periods, awful pain in my pelvic region and was in general agony. all swabs and urine were normal. other things were happening my hairdresser was commenting on how my hair was getting fine and thin (I have really thick Mediterranean hair) and I'm definitely having a big increase in facial hair growth.
eventually I got to see the same doctor more than once and she referred me to gynae at Raigmore thinking I might possibly have cysts. at raigmore they found nothing on the first ultrasound and my urine test was clear so the junior doctor told me that was it. I was left in tears in the waiting room and a nurse came in and asked what had been happening, she went off and I was then sent for a bladder scan (before I peed and after to check that my bladder was emptying properly), I was also sent for an internal scan, and apparently have ovaries in tip top condition. all of this took me arriving at 8. 45am until after 5pm, and I didn't mind the time-scale, but the result was appalling. the doctor (with the junior doctor) asked me lots of questions about my periods etc, and told me that I was most likely endometriosis, she then gave me a dose of strong antibiotics in case there was some sort of bladder infection they couldn't pick up (despite my having 6 clear urine samples). they gave me 3 months supply of cilest pill and told me I'd be seen again in 3 months time.
so I went off, still in agony, with not a clue what to do, and waited for 3 months. no appointment came through either for the hospital or my surgery, so I made an appt with a huge waiting time (as my surgery didn't believe it was an emergency) and was eventually seen by the dr who referred me. She told me that raigmore had sent nothing through, no record of treatment or the pills I'd been given or anything! ! ! ! it is just as well that I have the pill box with the label from raigmore still on it! I was completely humiliated! she wrote to raigmore and they sent a very short, curt reply back saying they had given me antibiotics and that I should be referred to urology and not gynaecology. no mention of 3 months supply of pill or my being told it was likely I had endometriosis! ! ! ! even my doctor felt that this was unacceptable. they then sent a letter back to my gp saying gynae would be happy to see me again.
so as a result, 6 months after I went to raigmore there is NO RECORD of what I was given from my visit to raigmore and I'm back to square one, I have to wait to make an appt to see my doctor to be put on the waiting list again. all the while I'm scared to drink when I'm at work because I spend all day holding in the urge to go and pee.
in short - I feel that I have not been taken seriously at all. I am in a lot of pain/discomfort and genuinely don't know who to turn to.
I work on contract basis, if I don't work I don't get paid, it's also less likely that I'll get new contracts if I'm off here and there for repeated dr appointments (which have so far gotten me nowhere).
I don't mind time off for doctor when needed, but in all the appts I've had at my dr then raigmore I've come no further forward and I feel like they are treating me as someone not worthy of notice.
