"Amazing treatment from Resus"

About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

Anything else?

I am writing to thank from the bottom of my heart the resus team. My dad came in with heart failure on 20.05.2013, I was ushered into the family room in A+E and was there for around an hour and a half. I was then called into resus and straight away a Dr came into the room, a lady explained everything to me, from start to end, all the tests he had, what results were through, what they thought it could be, how they were finding out what it was and how I could help. They made my dad, a man of few words, very comfortable, to the point he had a joke or two with the Dr’s and nurses, they provided extra blankets when asked, they kept us updated as soon as new results came in, and the nurses were incredibly efficient, and so friendly. At one point we saw a different Dr who asked a personal question and my dad lied, so I went out the curtains and the Dr was more than happy to hear me out and it turns out my information was very important, but he didn’t make me feel like I was in the way which I find with a lot of Dr’s. I have had 2 children at Queen’s, I have been in a few times myself with various illnesses and I have never been more pleased with the care than I was then, it made the diagnosis so much easier to handle, even when I rang the ward at 11pm that night they were helpful. I find people are quick to criticize but I want you to know what an amazing team you have and that I will always be grateful for how they dealt with such a traumatic experience for me. I hope you thank them for me and I hope they get the praise they at the least deserve. Thank you

Thank you so much for leaving your comment about our A&E department. I will certainly pass on your praise to the doctors and nurses. Working in such a busy and pressurised environment I am delighted that they still kept you and your family fully informed and supported, and provided your dad with such high quality care. Yours sincerely Dr Mike Gill Medical Director
