"opthamology for elderly"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske)

Anything else?

The service- I would like to know why it takes up to 5 different appointments in order to have cataract operation concluded? Elderly family member required this and it took 5 different appointments (including the GP to process the recommendation from the optician). Is this department aware that many of their clients are elderly and can't drive or feel unable to drive and can't use public transport because of general mobility problems to do with aging? This means that family members have to provide transport which is fine but 5 appointments? One was to do physical obs 5 days prior to the event. Can this not be cut down to perhaps 3 or less? As the elderly have multi problems you can multipy this attendance many times requiring an awful lot of time out of work for adults with family members over 80 trying to keep them going in the commumity.
