About: Addenbrooke's Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

The quality and expertise of the medical staff is very good. I feel I am in the hands of people who know about my disease - which my local NHS hospital cannot offer.

What could be improved

With a chronic liver disease I attend Clinic 5 every 3 months on a Thursday - it is really busy every time and my appointments are often over an hour late. And the 10 minutes appt. does not give long enough to discuss issues. I think this clinic is overwhelmed by the number of patients.

I never wait for blood tests now due to a great disparity between the numbers waiting and the staff available, but come back at a quieter time the following week. Often the wait can be 1 hour or more. I live many miles from Addenbrookes, but I return the following week for blood test at a quieter time of the day. I have tried to get my local hospital to do the blood tests and send them to Addenbrookes, but this has never been carried out successfully.

Thank you for your comments. We are pleased that you feel safe in the hands of the medical team responsible for your care. However, your comments regarding waiting times in clinic and difficulties with blood tests are cause for concern. As such, these issues have been raised with the Operational Managers for Hepatology and Phlebotomy respectively.
