"High Tibial Osteotomy / Opening Wedge"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford)

Anything else?

No messing around on the admissions day , was under the knife by 11 am and having a cuppa by 4. Result and didn't feel a thing till the pain block wore off about a day later . Doctors and nurses advised to keep on top of pain management and im glad they pushed this too. No complaints with aftercare whilst in Dyball ward as nothing was too much trouble .Physios listened to what I was saying too in regards walking asap after surgery and were great and got me home in 4 days which was good but not pushed upon me if struggling .Was allowed home on crutches and in a brace armed with all necessary pain relief and a mandate that if there was any problems just phone straight in .Rehab still ongoing and it takes a long time , its painful and you have to take it all on board and do your own rehab too in order to get better and strong . Food whilst admitted was ok too , not the ritz but I didn't expect anything else . All in all I found people involved very polite and friendly and so professional and hard working and I suppose that is what you come to expect from a team headed up by the knee god. If you've got a problem they do their very best to help so you cant ask for any more can you . They all do their jobs well and put up with all sorts of patients , some who don't do what theyre advised so lets get behind them and stop moaning re ; NHS as I am grateful for all their help since I needed it which is a lot of years .
