What I liked

My daughter (aged 20 months) was referred to Sunshine Ward by our GP after being unwell for several weeks. We were treated there for 3 days before being transferred by specialist intensive care ambulance to Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) for a throat operation to drain a retropharyngeal abscess. After a week in GOSH we were able to go home and my daughter has now made a complete recovery.

I have nothing but praise for all the staff at St John's Hospital but would specifically like to thank

- the anaesthetist who performed a very tricky grade 4 intubation on my daughter. The GOSH team were very impressed with his skill.

- also the doctors and the ENT team who pushed to have an x-ray on a bank holiday weekend and correctly diagnosed the problem (GOSH were very impressed that it had been diagnosed as it is a rare condition).

- and last but not least all the nurses and carers on Sunshine ward, they couldn't do enough for us and followed up on our progress once we were at GOSH.

What could be improved

The heating in the parents' room was constantly ON full blast and the water in the shower was so hot it could scald your skin.
