"rowan ward staff"

About: Kettering General Hospital

Anything else?

after a very taumatic c section birth my daughter has been put back on the said rowan ward, myself and my husband have been caring for her other child and we live 15 miles away, I knew my daughter was very upset over the birth and we went to visit today and took our granddaughter to see her mother and new baby sister, we checked on your website for visiting hours and it clearly stated 3pm to 8pm we arrived at 3.30 with our very excited granddaughter and looking forward to seeing our new grandchild, when we arrived we were very abruptly told the child can come in but you pair cant.. when we questioned this we were made to feel like intruders.we told them the web site says 3pm to 8pm for which they stated it had not been updated and we had come a fair distance and could we possibly see our dauhter for a few minutes, again abrutly told no ,the staff and sister were very patronising and unhelpful and we were called rude and aggressive I dont think so the ones that were rude were the staff, We were even threatened with security, we are just concerned parents worried about our daughter , who because of your undated website turned up acouple of hours before we should have, the attitude of the staff on duty was disraceful and when told we would put a complaint in they just shrugged their shoulders and said go for it, appalling behaviour from staff who are supposed to be professionals. When my daughter heard what was happening her and her husband wheeled my new grandchild into the corridor so we could see her. The staff on rowan ward should hang their heads in shame I truly hope that no other grandparent has to go through this indignity.

It is with great regret that you feel that you were not allowed to visit your GrandDaughter at Kettering Hospital Maternity Unit I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any upset that you may be experienced. We do work hard to try to ensure that care given is of a high standard . This means respecting the privacy and dignity of other mothers on the ward. Rowan does have a time when relatives can come to visit and these hours are between 18.00hrs and 20.00hrs . I am sorry that you were refused to come into the ward but we have to ensure that we minimise the health and safety of all new mums. We really appreciate the opportunity to improve the service and as a result of our clients requests they were all in favour of having the visiting hours restricted so as to ensure that they received adequate rest . We do value your comments and I am sorry that you were unhappy. Should you wish to discuss this any further please do not hesitate to contact me Sarah Berrill Ward Manager Rowan Ward 01536 492916
