"In and out of Hospital, i will not return to Wansbeck"

About: The Royal Victoria Infirmary / Gynaecology Wansbeck Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

In January I was in so much pain stomach swollen I had been in hospital 4 days they never once got my pain under control. The doc came round on my fourth day and said I think what you have come in with has ceased and I think your constipated and was sending me home. Considering I was having bowel movements. They eventually gave me a scan which 2 docs from my surgery had requested when I first went in and found I had a cyst on my ovary which was strangling it.

I had my op on the Monday. Got home. Week l8r I was bleeding so heavy they admitted me again till bleeding ceased never did any investigations why I was bleeding and in pain. I got discharged again. 5 days l8r I was admitted again same problems. Tried to say it was my bowel again. Until anotha doc seen me requested a ct scan. And I'd had a cyst which had burst. So tht settled. Down was discharged again. Then a week and a half ago my doc admitted me to hospital with same symptons swollen stomach pain they gave me a transvaginal scan said I had gas and discharged me on the sat.

I got worse over the weekend. Went back to docs. She was gonna ring Wansbeck as she was the one who admitted me on the Thursday. Was disgusted they had discharged me. I refused to go to Wansbeck. Went to RVI they gave me. A transvaginal scan and said I had fluid in my pelvis. And I'd had a cyst tht had burst. Big difference from gas! ! ! So I'm refusing to be treat at Wansbeck anymore.

Dear Madam,

Firstly, I was really sorry to read your account of care at Wansbeck and for any pain and discomfort you experienced during this difficult time.

The service you describe falls seriously short of our expectations of care and you will understand why I want to follow this up with some urgency to find out more about what exactly happened.

I have asked Janice Mcnicol, the General Manager, to look into this immediately - if you are able to provide me with a few more details, this will speed up this process considerably. My email is annie.laverty@nhct.nhs.uk

Thank you for bringing this to my attention, I will come back to you with a more detailed response when we have had the opportunity to explore your care in more detail.

With warm wishes,

Annie

Annie Laverty - Director of Patient Experience.
