"hernia repair"

About: Kingston Hospital

Anything else?

I was so keen to go to this hospital as I had an impression the West Middx was very poor and "dangerous" for patients. I had my horrors beginning from there actually. I finally got to the day of operation (a very simple hernia repair) and all in all I have to say that all the staff was only preparared to show everything was always ok, even if I was left half naked for nearly a couple of hours with no explanations at all. A very kind nurse was just left on her own trying to give comfort to my situation. I had everytime to make up my mind that this had to be the procedure and so I had to keep calm serene all the time. Then finally it was my turn (6 hours later after having woken up so early 5.00 am to be on time at 7.15 the time I was told I woudl have been the first to be operated) and the rest always the same: nurses just skilled to make all seem very normal. That is good in some way, but I kept all the time saying that I had a very very sharp pain somewhere and that was not were the pain had supposed to be. All my alarm was just politely ignored. And that is my main and most alarming complaint. I think it is just an hospital where most of the staff is not communicating each other at all, they are just left to create their own tecnique to calm the patients and then run off somewhere to hide, no passion at all for their jobs. Doctors very very inexperts, I had to rely on my internet connection on my mobile to find my answer and that was so obvious for hernia repair that every young doctor had to know I was between the unlucky ones having gone through a surgeon at his first experiences and that also I was never allowed to be in touch with to get an explanation. A very young doctor who came aftertwards did not even know what a hernia exactly technically was! She was meant to come and explain to me what went on in the opearting theatre! She just flew off as she was embarassed from my too technical questions! What a joke! What a joke! Please think twice and if you feel something is not right just do not sign anything, because I was too trustful and signed all the forms I was so kindly handled everytime! Now I am unfortunately left with a permanent life impairing pain that I was never informed of as a post operation risk as I was really helthy before and I could have opted for a less invasive operation.
