About: Southend Hospital

Anything else?

Had to bring my son for a daily injection on the children's ward and was told to come at three o clock. We wasn't told anything or spoken to until 4.45 when my son was fitted with a canula, we were then sent back to the bed to wait medication. We then find out that it is not an injection but actually a drip which takes thirty minutes to do which still has not materialised and we have been here two and a half hours. Is this going to take half a day for the next seven days?? I had left two other children at home because we were told it was just a simple injection. Also while my sons canula was fitted he bled a little onto the tissue bed cover in the treatment room which was torn off and immediately replaced without the bed being wiped first and the floor was dirty. Also freeze spray was used and returned to the trolley with my sons blood on the cap. None of what I have seen today on the children's ward instills me with any confidence and is quite concerning
