Polite, & friendly welcome from the X Ray Dept. Receptionist on arrival, & a pleasant, clean waiting area with feature Tropical fish tank. The female Radiology Assistant introduced herself to me & explained in detail what I needed to do prior to the L.P. I was definitely made to feel at ease, & any nervousness alleviated prior to entering the procedure room. Once in the X Ray room I was introduced to the doctor & his team, & made aware of what to expect, (having previously had this procedure on the Daycare Ward, which I consider was an inappropriate, unclean & most unhygienic room I have encountered in a hospital for a L.P or any other procedure, even the '' rubber pillow'' did not have a pillowcase, or any cover whatsoever, I was disgusted with the lack of care with the needles left opened, whilst waiting for another Dr. to takeover between the procedure, this was approx. a 20 mins. wait). However this X Ray room I was about to have the L.P. was spotless, & I was made aware of this by the team whilst explaining the procedure. The doctor explained everything he was about to do from the commencement to the end of the procedure in detail, with only a little discomfort, which lasted only a few minutes. No comparison to the discomfort/pain previously encountered. The female Radiology Assistant again was very caring throughout the procedure & I could not have wished for better care. All he Radiology staff were brilliant to me. Finally I was taken to the Daycare Recovery, a pleasant clean & airy room. Here I was under the care of a Charge Nurse & his team. Once again fantastic care, I was totally kept informed of procedures & constantly asked if I felt ok or needed anything by both the discharge nurse & his staff, who were all very professional, pleasant & really nothing was too much trouble. Which certainly makes you feel better. My experience of the LRI today was excellent, I could not have had better care if I had been a Private Patient. Ruth Turner
