The story relates to last year but is only being sent now after many prompts from friends so things have changed so might not get to the right people but worth sharing.
In the early hours of a morning in Feb 2012 I was seriously ill. My wife dialled 999 and spoke a very helpful operator. Within less than 5 mins a 1st responder was with me. My wife knew he was there as the operator kept her informed. He quickly assessed me and an ambulance quickly arrived. What happened next not even my wife knows as she was told she couldn't travel in the ambulance.
I think the 2 girls on duty did more than just take me to Gloucester Hospital. My thanks to all those concerned. If only I could meet all those involved in definitely saving my life before dawn! ! !
I am now almost fully recovered and its thanks to the operator, 1st responder and then the ambulance crew (I'm told they were 2 very caring people) that I'm able to be where I am now.
The team on intensive care had me in their care for 8 weeks before going onto a general ward for a further 3 weeks. A brilliant team of great individuals so caring not just for me but for my wife.
If, and its a big if, I could meet any or all of them that would be a dream come true. I know its not the norm but in this case its life savers. I've been to my sister in law's wedding, been on holiday and in my absence we moved house. All thanks to a great team.
