On Saturday June 1st my daughter and myself took my granddaughter to the hospital paediatric A & E as what my daughter described her daughter as having a 'wonky face'. My daughter and myself were understandably worried as my husband had 2 mini strokes at the age of 51 years and his mother died of a massive stroke at 62 years of age. This initially is what I thought she had had. I had heard of bells palsy but thought she was too young. We were taken in to the paediatric a & e and were seen quite promptly by the most courteous and kind team. They put my granddaughter at ease and told her exactly what was going on. They genuinely seemed happy in their work and this made for a pleasant visit instead of a scary one. She had various tests, unfortunately they could not get blood out of either hands, this was left to the Doctor at the assessment ward in ward 26 who said I will get it!! He took blood out of her arm without her even noticing. Can I just please thank you for having such wonderful people working within your hospital. My granddaughter was diagnosed with Bells Palsy and is on the road to recovery. Will you please pass on our heartfelt thanks to both teams within your hospital who are a real credit to you.
