"My Dads health scares."

About: East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust Pilgrim Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a carer),

My Dad got a cold, that sort of started him off, and after it went away all of a sudden he started choking and we had to call an ambulance! It was really scary, as I was only 7 at the time, and he was in hospital for what seemed like eternity, but it was only about two days.

When he came home he had to have loads of tests etc. and after a while he got given a Epi-pen, and lots of new tablets. In the next year or so he was in hospital over 4 times! But now he's on over 25 tablets every morning and a totally unknown number the rest of the day, and hardly has to go to hospital. Me and my brother are now members of spurgeons and Mum is a registered full time carer.

Dear Cavyservant - thank you for telling us your story - you have obviously had a really tough time but I bet your mum and dad and proud of you and of being a member of Spurgeons! At our hospitals we are doing a lot of work with carers and young carers so if your dad ever needs our care again don’t forget to tell the staff you are young carers and show them your card! Take care and hope your dad is ok - and your mum!:)
