I have no issue with my appointment in January. I have had 2 blood tests due to diagnosis of under active thyroid. Both of those have been fasting blood tests. The result of my last one was normal whatever that means. So I asked does that mean I can stop taking the tablets. Member of staff said would leave note for Doctor and fair enough called me back a few days later to say yes I did and that she needed to book another blood test and subsequent doctor's appointment. She didn't know whether it should be fasting or not ( "I'm not medically trained") so I opted for an early appt. thinking it probably should be a fasting one ( and no I'm not medically trained either). A few days before the due blood test I was called to say due to staff sickness could I go to Brewood (previous one at Wheaton Aston). I had no issue with that. No organisation can plan for staff sickness. I was given a pm appt. and told unless a clinician had told me I needed a fasting blood test I didn't need one. Fair enough. But when I got to Brewood I was told I didn't need blood test until November! So a wasted journey. Not sure how I was advised for a further blood test in 3 months when it should have 6.
Also issue with late availability of my prescription at Wheaton Aston. This rarely happens but it did last week and when I asked if they checked if items had arrived they said yes but they obviously hadn't on this occasion because they then had to chase it. So do they? It would also have been good customer service if the person ringing to advise they were in had reminded me that they were closed that afternoon for training.
I also learnt today that a friend is having her flu & Covid jab at Wheaton Aston. I wasn't offered that option. Is that my fault for not asking? Why would you not offer a Wheaton Aston patient that option?
These are very minor issues and I know you are under pressure. Every member of staff I have contact with is lovely but the processes don't always seem to work and they are such an easy fix.
