My husband had his cataract surgery at Spa Medica in Sittingbourne last week. He is recovering well. However, as he is immune suppressed we have to be extremely cautious about Covid. We were told on arrival that there was an hour's delay before he could be seen, and he was expected to wait with other people squashed into a very small waiting room with no social distancing at all. We were literally the only people wearing masks. I explained that it would not be safe for my husband to wait in such a risky environment, so we were told he could wait in the reception area - which was quiet but there were no chairs at all. I had to look in various empty rooms to find an office chair. In all other medical settings we have been to patients are asked to wear masks and chairs are suitably distanced, so we were very disappointed by the Spa Medica handling of the Covid risk. All the patients were elderly and therefore vulnerable. He was pleased with the medical care he eventually got and said everyone was very nice, but he spent a lot of time waiting around and was in there for well over three hours so the whole thing was a bit of an ordeal.
"Not impressed by the lack of Covid precautions."
