"Incredibly poor access to medical care"

About: The Limes Medical Centre

Obtaining an appointment at this surgery is almost impossible even for a child of 16 months and even if they are really not well. If you do manage to get a telephone appointment, you need to wait for a call back that day at any time and if you miss that call for any reason, there are is no prospect of being helped even if the doctor is still available. You are simply directed to 111 (who usually take more than 12 hours to come back even if the situation is fairly serious), the walk in centre 30 minutes away where wait times are in excess of two hours, or a and e where you could be waiting all night. Our medical system and GP surgeries are broken - you are left to resolve medical issues by yourself while trying to work and take care of a young child. There is no-one to help and when you speak to reception they have no resolution aside from "call at 8am again tomorrow" so that you can be subjected to the same ineffectual process again. You can't send your child back to nursery as you are not sure they are well enough but you still have to work. I am really not sure how people are supposed to cope and empathy for your situation is completely lacking from all those involved. The approach is simply "computer says no". So disappointing that this is all we can expect in a country with such advanced medical care. Even typing this review is pointless, as it is unlikely to be read and nothing will change. We are all completely powerless.

Dear Patient

We are sorry to hear of your experience and upset caused, as a practice we take these matters very seriously and it is important that we hear when things may have gone wrong as this helps us to learn and make improvements. All parents of children should be contacted on the day and the child seen if an acute problem and we are sorry that this was not the case this time. Please contact the Practice Manager on 01843 222788 for this to be resolved.
