"consistency when it comes to mealtimes"

About: Rampton Hospital / Personality Disorder Pathway

(as the patient),

All I want is consistency when it comes to mealtimes, I don’t get the same size portion as the others. I tell staff and some just laugh in my face. All the staff stick together. I spoken to ward manager and staff have been emailed to give all patients the same portions but it doesn’t happen. One of the staff involved went and told other patients that they had been reported by me. some staff comments when I’m around say that there’s some right babies on this ward. Patient states that some of the other patients are treated differently.

All I want is to be treated the same as others and with a bit of respect. Some of the old staff refer to me as the pain in axxx from admission 11 years ago. Some staff saying I’m a horrible Axxx Hole. Some staff say to other patients --Don’t worry about him he’s a right horrible ... all this is within ear shot. I feel I’m victimised by some staff. Some staff are abrupt with me which in turn makes other patients to be disgruntled towards me. some staff say I’m greedy. I had childhood traumas of being starved and all I want is my fair share and be treated as I should be not punished.

This is such a disappointing review to read. I'm so sorry for your experience around food but more importantly how we have responded to your thoughts and feeling on the matter.

I will attend the next ward community meeting and work with the ward on how we can improve things relating to your concerns.

Its absolutely vital that everyone patient staff or visitor is valued and treated respectfully.

And, thank you for having the courage to come forward and post a care opinion that includes some difficult times from your past.

As Antony has indicated, please contact the Quality Matron, Service Manager or the Operational Manager that is linked to your ward so that we can collaboratively address the issues you have raised.

I want to assure you that we are passionate and will not shy away from tackling poor staff attitude, bad practice or closed cultures.
