"Great practice, professional, caring, impressive…"

About: University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

I have just returned after spending two and half weeks in the haematology ward on the north side at the top of the tower. Firstly I do realise how lucky I am to live in the uk and actually access this care on the nhs even though it is in crisis. My treatment was the taking and returning of stem cells with high dose chemotherapy in between.

From the moment I spoke to my clinical nurse specialist and the consultant I felt that there were no better hands.

As I then met each team who had very specific parts to play I found each one so professional and in control of what they were doing; from the wonderful team on the ward in the macmillan centre, to the picc line team, the chemo nurses, the two amazing nurses who replaced my stem cells, and the wonderful staff in haematology t16n who saw me through the up and downs until my discharge. I am so touched that there are such people with such pride in their work, and I am so grateful that they were there to help me.

Now that I am home I still have access to my clinical nurse specialist who has been with me all the way, I want everyone to know, how wonderful everyone has been and to thank you so, so much.

Jude Smith.
