"Unexpected few nights at Lincoln county hospital"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Accident and emergency Lincoln County Hospital / Respiratory medicine Lincoln County Hospital / X-ray and Scans

(as a service user),

After a visit to our practice nurse in Market Rasen I was told to take my chest pain directly to  the Lincoln SDEC without delay. I arrived, they knew I was coming, and without delay started tests, x-rays and bloods.  In no time at all I was told I had a collapsed lung and needed an urgent drain in the chest. SDEC staff were brilliant explaining in basic terms what had happened and what was needed.

I was taken to a bed in A&E where two young doctors prepped me for the drain explaining everything and being kind and considerate at all stages.  With the drain in and pain killers administered I was admitted to the RSU where I was greeted by friendly and kind staff again who settled me down and answered my questions.

Next day I was visited by the practitioner nurse and the consultant. They again introduced themselves and explained all had gone very well and that I was on course for a release in about another 24 hours.  I was checked and made comfortable  very regularly but in a way that did not cause me distress or concern. They were true to their word and following more checks and x rays I got home by 17:00 next day.

I can't thank the team at Lincoln county enough. There are too many to name and I wish I could remember them all. I don't want to repeat the experience but if I had to, I would feel comfortable that the outcome would be as positive as this. Thank you Lincoln county staff, you are all stars!!
