"Negative demeanour when seeking treatment"

About: Omagh Primary Care Complex / Urgent Care and Treatment Centre

(as a service user),

My elderly neighbour has Covid and his wife ran over to our house worried he was having a fit. I looked at him and clearly he was having breathing difficulties which needed immediate medical care.

I brought him to Urgent Care in Omagh Hospital and felt was treated with contempt when told that we shouldn’t have brought him here.

The staff were rude and I felt treated this man like a leper, despite him using a mask and being in a very vulnerable position and needing medical attention.

Hello brandy59,

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on the services in Urgent Care and Treatment Centre, Omagh Hospital. I am very disappointed to hear of your experience of our service particularly at what must have been a very distressing time for your neighbour.

Can I kindly ask you to email me on julie.devlin3@westerntrust.hscni.net or telephone the hospital on 02882833129 to speak to me in order for me to get some further information so I can look at the issues you have raised. This will help to identify learning to avoid this happening again.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind Regards

Julie Devlin - Ward Manager UCTC, OHPCC
