"Lack of equality in the food provided"

About: Freeman Hospital

(as a service user),

When staying in hospital, I found there to be a lack of equality (cultural, religious, food intolerance etc.) within food provided for admitted patients. Food was brought on a trolley, sandwiches and sweet snacks but none of the sandwiches were suitable for kosher or halal diet, nor for vegans or people with gluten intolerance.

It seems very unfair that you provide food which is not suitable for people who require a halal or kosher diet.

There has at no point been the opportunity to ask ahead whether a halal meal can be served, or failing that a vegetarian one (cheese savoury on white bread isn’t an option).

Please try to cater to all patients' requirements.
