"Appalling treatment!"

About: King George Hospital

I was left standing in a queue for over 2 hours, struggling to breathe. When I eventually saw the nurse, she gave me a red disk and told me to take it around the corner! I did that, gave my details yet again to the chap who took it from me and said someone would be with me shortly. He then approached me and said there was at least a 5 hour wait! Meanwhile kids were running around touching everything, and adults were there wearing no masks. I left the hospital as I was not prepared to wait that long in that environment. I was told "its your choice" and I said I would rather die at home! This is not the first time I have been disappointed with this hospital. As a result, I have absolutely refused to go back there ever again!

Thank you for taking the time to make us aware of your experience. The triaging process upon arrival to Queen's Hospital is managed Partnership of East London Co-operative (PELC). We work very closely with the PELC Management Team and will ensure your feedback is passed onto them so that they are aware. I am so sorry to hear about the long wait you encountered when you were triaged to majors B, unfortunately, we are unable to determine how many patients will access this service on any one day and therefore the sometimes the wait for patients to be seen can be longer than we would like. I would like to offer you my sincere apologies. All patients are triaged and seen in order of clinical priority. I will discuss your feedback with the team, but should you wish to raise your concerns further then please contact our Patient, Advice and Liaison Service on 01708 435 454 or by email, bhrut.pals@nhs.net. Once again, thank you for taking the time to make us aware of your experience.

Kind Regards

James Avery

Divisional Director of Nursing Emergency Medicine Division
