"Maternity Care"

About: Daisy Hill Hospital / Maternity care Maternity care / Delivery suite / MLU Maternity care / Maternity assessment unit Maternity care / Maternity Ward

(as the patient),

I wanted to leave my opinion on the fantastic staff at Daisy Hill Hospital after their fabulous care in late July 2022.

We were looked after in the assessment units by a Ruth, Joanne and another lady named Ruth initially, all absolutely fantastic and so kind towards us.
In the delivery suite we were initially looked after by Breige and Lavina who were also so kind and offered fantastic advice and service throughout, I have never met such kind ladies before and they are a credit to the midwifery profession. Lavina inserted my cannula which was challenging as I have been bad veins and needle phobia and Lavina was so patient with me. Briege was very calm and walked me through lots of options for birth and after birth too all whilst helping manage pain. When their shift had ended they came back in to wish us all the best which was a lovely touch.
Right after delivery we were looked after on the ward by Natalie, Aislinn and Megan who were all so positive and gave loads of support for myself and nothing was too much bother for them. They helped me with medication feeding and changing thank you so much ladies.
I would like to make a special thank you to the midwife who was with us during the majority of the delivery -Jo in Daisy Hill. Jo was with us through active labour and made some key decisions ensuring the safety of myself and our baby. Jo was so calm throughout and explained everything that was happening along the way, Jo was so reassuring which made so much difference as this was my first baby. I dont think I have ever seen anyone work as hard in such a high paced environment.

Mavis was with us on the ward during the days after the birth and was absolutely fantastic. Mavis really helped me with feeding and gave our daughter colostrum we had harvested. Mavis was very focused on our well being as a family and gave loads of great advice.

During the days and nights there were other staff members and students they helped us as well including Hannah Eva and student midwife Chloe, all of whom were fantastic. Chloe was great at taking bloods as I was very nervous once again.

Anesthesiologist James was absolutely fantastic too and made key decisions to help during the delivery and I am so grateful that he was there for us all keeping us safe and informed.

Mr Sim was our Doctor from the beginning and was a calming presence throughout the birth and we are very thankful and lucky to have had him deliver our baby.

I have to stress once more the appreciation I have for our midwife Jo, such a hard working lady and deserves so much credit, anyone having a baby would be very lucky if she was their midwife, I would be very happy if she was with me in future pregnancies and really hope she is!

I would like to thank all the staff in DHH hospital that I may have forgotten their name but all were so wonderful.

Thank you all!

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience of the Maternity Department in Daisy Hill Hospital.

I'm delighted to hear you had such a positive experience whilst having your first baby and that you felt well supported throughout your labour and birth and in the early postnatal period.

I will pass on your lovely feedback to all the staff involved in your care, it is really appreciated.

Congratulations on your new arrival!

Emma-Jo
