"A&E saved my husband"

About: North Manchester General Hospital

My husband was brought to north Mcr emergency dept by ambulance on 21/07/22 around 10am due to coughing up a lot of blood. Whilst there his artery in his throat burst whilst in the waiting room. He was bleeding heavily from his throat and nose. The response from the staff in resus was incredible. Within minutes he was receiving blood and they did all they could to stop the bleeding. I’ve no doubt if we hadn’t of been there he would no longer be here. They were fabulous. He was then put to sleep and put on ventilator to be transferred to MRI ICU for further investigation and surgery. Staff there were also incredible. I would like to thank all the staff that helped save my husband. We will be forever grateful. Please can this be shared with the staff on duty that day.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding your husband's care received at North Manchester General Hospital. It is very reassuring that you found the clinical team working in the emergency department to be both very caring and responsive when your husband was very poorly and that his on-going care at Manchester Royal Infirmary in the Intensive Care Unit, you found the staff to be incredible. The clinical teams in both areas will be very pleased to read your feedback. Once again thank you for taking the time to share your experience and that your husband continues to feel better and has a good recovery following his surgery. Kind Regards, Patient Experience Team.
