"My 2nd scan"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Radiology (X-ray)

(as a service user),

This was my 2nd scan, the last one was 6 years ago, delayed because of the Pandemic.

The staff were lovely, the young man who carried out the whole procedure was still training, His 'boss' joined us when it came to the actual scan and I agreed for a work experience young man to be present too.

Everything was explained very clearly and carefully.  I was treated very kindly, with respect and with understanding of any pain I was experiencing.  Each element of the process was explained as we went along and I was continually checked with to see if I was ok.  There was also humour and a very good atmosphere in the room and I rather enjoyed it.  I highly commend the staff they were excellent.

I am a Diagnostic Radiographer with many years experience of working, and imaging patients, in all areas of the Radiology department. I am also responsible for the governance in Radiology and so make sure that we are compliant with the many ionising radiation regulations that dictate what we can and can't do in radiology, keep the patients and staff safe and ensure we are practicing safely. I also deal with our policies and procedures and oversee compliments, complaints and quality.
