"Excelling at what they do"

About: Daisy Hill Hospital / Stroke Unit Northern Ireland Ambulance Service

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I took a stroke at home and I recall arguing with my husband when he was phoning the ambulance as I was certain I was fine and he was just being dramatic. Turns out he wasn’t. The ambulance staff were lovely and very quick thinking along with efficient. I can’t really remember much but I can remember the kindness they showed me during this time. I don’t remember my time in the emergency department, but one of the nurses here on stroke and rehab said that she was called down to see and assess me in the emergency department. The staff here on the ward are very good and helpful. The staff are all highly skilled and empathetic. Overall I am very happy with the care I have been receiving in the hospital and the ward that I’m on is very nice and clean. The staff are all brilliant and as good as one another. The food has also been very good – I really enjoyed the chicken dish last night. Mu only issue is that there needs to be more nurses to help with patient numbers

Good morning,

Thank you so much for taking the time to give us this valuable feedback, I'm sorry that you have been unwell.

I will send your feedback to the Team caring for you. We are so proud of the care that we give and the Team that provide it. At present the Stroke Unit is staffed at the recommended levels and this is under constant review, we appreciated the ward environment can change very quickly and support staff during these times.

May I wish you a speedy recovery,

James

Hello Fioew57

Thank you for such heartfelt compliments towards the crew who assisted in your recent emergency. We are extremely grateful that you have taken the time to share your positive feedback after what sounds to have been an anxious and startling situation for both you and your husband.

I am pleased to learn you found the crew to be lovely and quick thinking. We work very hard in achieving optimal outcomes for our patients by providing the right response, in the right place based on clinical need for every call.

I hope you are recovering well and feeling a great deal better.

Best wishes,

Demi McKay
