"Helped to have independence"

About: Adult Mental Health Services - Community (County) / Ashfield Local Mental Health Team (LMHT)

(as a service user),

Over the course of a year I was supported by support worker Laura and occupational therapist Sarah in regards to my social anxiety and autism and how to gain independence in the community.

These two professionals were amazing, they created a great care plan for me and I undertook graded exposure therapy over a period of time which was focused on going to my local shop alone and then walking my dog on my own. I struggled with unbearable anxiety previously where I was totally unable to leave the house on my own.

However through the support of these professionals I am now able to go to my local shop alone and walk my dog alone, and I have been able to transfer these skills to many other areas in my life. I am unbelievably grateful for their support, they are absolutely amazing people and I am so thankful. I have so much more independence now.

Firstly I would like to thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding your experience of the Ashfield Local Mental Health Team and the clinicians involved in your care.

I apologise for the delay in response, however, please be assured that the feedback was provided to the named clinicians in a timely manner, they were very pleased to receive your feedback.

It is fantastic to hear that you felt you had a great care plan to support your goal of increasing your independence and that you have also found this of benefit in other areas of your life.
