"Excellent service"

About: University Hospital Ayr / Endoscopy

(as the patient),

I went in for an endoscopy, the receptionist was very helpful, polite and professional she even moved the seat out of the sun into a cooler area. Every one of the nursing staff were polite, friendly, professional and put me at ease as I was a bit nervous. They explained everything that was going to happen and made sure I understood. They went through the checklist and asked the relevant questions and whether I wanted sedation before proceeding. They kept me informed of what was happening throughout and kept me calm. When it was over I was offered a hot or cold drink and something to eat. My wife was phoned and told what time I would be finished so she could come and collect me. Before I left I was given the discharge instructions and gastroscopy report and a follow up appointment to be arranged and letter sent to my GP. Excellent service.

Dear slidehy58

Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to share your lovely feedback.

The staff in the Endoscopy Unit were thrilled to receive your kind comments and it was really encouraging for them to know that their efforts to reassure you and provide person-centred care resulted in such a positive experience for you..
