When I wakened on the 20th of May this year 2022 I found my left leg was weak , a sense of numbness in my left hand too , my husband rang 999 and they said to get to a hospital asap. I went into A&E in Daisy Hill hospital where I was taken into the resuscitation cubicle. A team of nurses and Doctors looked after me; my blood pressure was very high, I was hooked up to a drip and heart monitor; after a period of hours I was admitted to the stroke ward. I continued to wear a heart monitor for a few days , a smaller mobile type.
I found my care in the A&E, on the stroke ward and follow up appointments to the Rapid Access Clinic of the highest standard , a real sense of care and nursing was provided from the Doctor and nurses. I felt that attending the Rapid Access Clinic it was a very personal experience and it really helped with the beginning of my recovery journey.
The Doctor there prescribed additional medication and really listened as did the nurse. I can only say a big thanks to all the team right down to the receptionist.
In my 50's running my own business having the stroke was certainly a massive shock to my system.
