"Children’s A&E"

About: Worcestershire Royal Hospital

We attended A&E after advice from paramedics in regards to our son’s high temperature. Upon arrival, we were told only one parent per child, which was expected. He was seen very quickly by the triage nurse, and was then moved into the children’s waiting area which was clean and tidy. There was a play area in that room also that kept our son entertained whilst waiting to be seen by the Doctor. The Doctor’s kept us up to date, not once did we feel like we had been forgotten about. Even when nurses/doctors walked past us they would say hello or engage with a smile so we felt as though they knew we were definitely still there. The Doctor was extremely patient with our 2 year old, and was giving high fives and stickers to try and make the experience nicer for him. We were extremely surprised by having bottled water, biscuits and sandwiches offered to us whilst waiting also. All in all it made a very stressful and scary time that bit easier and put us at ease feeling like we were in good hands. In comparison to another A&E department we have visited with our son before, this was unbelievably different and we can’t say a bad word about our experience with you. Overall Worcester Royal was clean, tidy, and we didn’t feel like an inconvenience. The childrens waiting area was also clean and tidy and well managed. And during an extremely busy time for the NHS, we wanted to share our thank yous with you.
