"Labour and complications"

About: Maternity care / Ward C Maternity care / Ward D

(as a service user),

I had my baby nearly 5 months ago.

After my 1st labour was difficult and complications after. I was assured with this labour it would highly be unlikely for the same to happen again.

However after a difficult few hours and eventually having an epidural my midwife went on a break.  Another midwife called Emma came to take over.

After starting to panic and feeling I needed to push, the midwife checked me and confirmed I was ready to have my baby. She kept me calm by reassuring me, telling me to breathe and use my gas and air and held my hand. She had left when my child was born.

Unfortunately complications again happened and I had to be taken to surgery. Emma was there and I sobbed the whole time. She held my hand the entire time making me look at her and calming me down, stroking my face, patting my head and reassuring me.

If it wasn't for Emma I would have been in a worse state.

Thank you Emma!

Dear Mamabear2

My name is Stephanie Wilson and I am a sister on Delivery Suite RJMS

Firstly thank you for taking time to get in touch, feedback from our mothers is a vital tool in how we learn.

I am so sorry that you experienced complications in both your labours and deliveries and fully understand how distressing this must be for you. However I am delighted that you were able to remain feeling calm and supported. We have a few midwives called Emma,I will share your story with them all and I know all Emmas but particularily "your " Emma will be delighted to hear she was able to help you through a difficult time.

I do hope all is going well for you and your family and once more thank you so much for getting in touch.

Best Wishes

Stephanie
