"improvement"

I was pleased to be referred to CHEC for a cataract operation. However on my visit to the assessment centre I was turned down because the company cannot deal with patients who have a pacemaker. It would save much time and expense if such patients were informed in the appointment letter and able to withdraw at that stage.

Dear Patient,

Thank you for your review. We would firstly like to apologise for your experience following your referral to us for cataract treatment, it is never our intention to upset our patients or for them to deem the outcome from our service as negative. We do however appreciate your comments and will take them on board to ensure we continually improve patient experience.

Unfortunately, as you have stated we are unable to provide surgery to patients with pacemakers or other implanted cardiac devices for clinical safety reasons. For this reason, we have all our patient’s attend a pre-cataract assessment to ensure that we are able to safely offer treatment within a community setting. Unfortunately, this information would not have been included within the referral documents received and we are sorry to hear that in your case we were unable to provide you with treatment.

Best wishes

CHEC
