They made me feel stupid and like an inconvenience. I lost my dad 3 weeks ago' I hurt my hand the day after trying to get into a safe because I knew he'd left a letter in there for my mum. His keys went missing at another hospital. My hand was swollen and painful but I could move my fingers so I just left it. I had other things on my mind and I didn't think it was bad enough for A&E. I called my gp yesterday because it was aching all the time and just felt uncomfortable. She said I should go to A&E for an xray. They sent me to urgent care. There were about 4 other people waiting. When I was the only one left I sat there for over an hour on my own. When I was called in the doctor was dismissive and said he'd send me for an xray if u really wanted but he doubted it was broken. It wasn't. But I was still in pain. I wanted to know how I could help it, would strapping it up help, rest, exercise but nothing. It was made clear I'd wasted their time. What should I have done? I tried to avoid A&E, tried my gp, pharmacys obviously could help. A bit of kindness would have been nice.
