I was admitted to ward 108 for several weeks. There were 2 nightshift staff members that caused concern during my admission, though not on the same shifts. Both appeared to never be willing to have any contact with patients. One spent a significant amount of time on their phone, with headphones in, and didn’t react when people spoke, both patients and staff. It appeared as though they couldn’t hear them. The other seemed to be constantly in a terrible mood on every shift and at one point left a buzzer unanswered that was going for over 5 minutes. The nurses on appeared not to communicate with the auxiliaries and never delegate work.
One positive that happened during my stay was the reassurance given by a member of staff the night that the fire alarm started at 7pm. I had expected that the whole ward would be evacuated but the staff being knowledgeable about the location of the fire and the evacuation procedures made me feel at ease.
