A bad start in A&E in March 2022 with a bimalleor ankle fracture, sitting from 12 noon to getting a bed at 3:00 am. I was taken to ward 1B and I can tell you my experience in that ward was amazing. They looked after me so well. I wasn't able to have surgery till the swelling went down. All of the staff were very kind and helpful. I had my operation at the end of March. I've never been so frightened, I was put at ease straight away by the team that were going into theatre to sort my broken ankle.
Back in ward 1B for the start my recovery again the staff were brilliant. I remained there for 3 weeks. The administration were very poor and lacking in humanity (another story). My overall impression and experience with my stay on the ward was very good.
My experience as a outpatient has been a eye opening and pleasant journey, particularly the ease of Mr Yewlett my surgeon. He made me feel important as he talked about the surgery and what happens next, without rushing and clock watching . My next appointment with Mr Yewlett was just the same, assisted by Miss Harvey, who was also very pleasant.
All we need is lots of ward 1B's and even more of Mr Yewlett 's and we would have amazing hospitals.
Thank you
"My experience in hospital and out after care."
